Melissa M. Álvarez Brunet

Agriculture Education & Systems Designer (Americorps Vista Member)

Melissa M. Álvarez Brunet is a graduate of the University of Puerto Rico at Mayagüez, where she earned a degree in Agro-Environmental Sciences. She has approximately five years of experience in the agricultural field and currently works within an agroecological system, promoting sustainable practices that strengthen community resilience and care for the environment.

In 2024, she joined Plenitud through the AmeriCorps VISTA program, collaborating with the Children and Youth team on educational and socially impactful projects. Passionate about innovation, she integrates technology into agriculture as a certified drone pilot and has a strong interest in agricultural genetics for its potential in food security and ecological regeneration.

Outside of her professional life, she enjoys traveling, spending time at the beach, and being with her loved ones. Her goal is to continue growing in the agro-environmental field by combining technology and agroecology to support community well-being through conscious, educational, and innovative agriculture.
