La Cancha Sana
In partnership with the Las Marías Municipality, Plenitud PR operates La Cancha Sana, a community center just down the road from our farm in Western Puerto Rico. This space serves as a resiliency hub in times of emergency, providing essential services such as drinkable rainwater, fresh food and solar electricity. It also provides a space for people to gather outdoors and participate in educational workshops and activities. We have renovated an educational teaching kitchen which is used to prepare meals for elders in our Senior Care program as well as for other community events.
We’ve collaborated with community members to learn their vision for this space, and are honored to bring that vision to life.
Our Community Center Features
Community Kitchen
Spacious cooking facility for the Senior Care program and for the general public in the event of a natural disaster. Hurricanes are all too common in Puerto Rico.
Emergency Response Center
Distribution of food, water filters, solar lights, and water in the event of a natural disaster.
Education Facilities
Extracurricular and weekend programs welcome to children, elders, and all people in the community. Learn more about our children's programs and initiatives for the elderly.
Therapeutic Art Activities
Art, yoga, and other exercise classes for different age groups in the local community.
Resiliency Workshops
Workshops and demonstrations on rainwater collection and filtering water methods, renewable energy, and food packaging & storage.
Vegetable Garden Classes
Workshops and demonstrations on how to design, create, and maintain a garden.
